Ink.Stamp.Share Monthly Blog Hop - Summer

Hello and welcome back to my blog. This month the team at Ink.Stamp.Share are working on the theme ‘Summer’. When I think of summer, I think of holidays abroad, beautiful sunsets, beaches and palm trees; so with this in mind, I’ve used a stamp set that if you live in the UK, is available on the clearance rack - Sunkissed.

Using my blending brush on a piece of Basic White, I blended Crumb Cake for the beach, Balmy Blue and Azure Afternoon for the sea. To give the effect of waves in the water, I used the 'lines' stamp from the Inked and Tiled set and stamped in second generation Misty Moonlight.

To create the sun setting, I masked off the sea and die cut a small circle from Radiating Stitch dies to mask off the sun. I then blended Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie around the outside of the circle, I then removed the mask and blended within the circle using the same colours. To complete the scene, I carried on blending Balmy Blue and Azure Afternoon for the sky. In Memento Black, I stamped the palm trees and the chairs. Colouring the umbrella and hat using my light Melon Mambo blends pen.

To finish the card, I chose a stamp set from the set and punched out using the Double Oval punch from Basic White cardstock and blended the sentiment with Balmy Blue and the larger punched piece with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie and layered the pieces together. I created a 'faux bow' from the Tahitian Tide Baker's Twine which was adhered to the back of the sentiment using Stampin' Seal and then added this to the card on dimensionals. I layered the scene on Basic Black and adhered both layers to a standard Azure Afternoon card base.

And I couldn't stop there, I just had to make a sunset card. To create this effect, I first blended Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo. Once this was done, in Versamark ink, I stamped the Rays of Light background stamp and clear heat embossed the image.

From Basic Black, I die cut the main image from the Grove Dies and two of the deers to create a silhouette backdrop. I trimmed the blended background to the same size as the largest die cut piece. I layered the scene on dimensionals on the background.

Both of these layers were adhered to a matting layer of Melon Mambo and added to a Basic Black standard size card base. For the sentiment, I pulled in the Sending Dies and from the remaining piece leftover from the trimmed background, I cut the outline piece for 'sending' and die cut the wording from Basic Black. Then added the smaller wording stamped in Memento Black on Daffodil Delight and die cut using the sentiment strip from the Sending Dies set.  To finish, I added some embellishments from the Glossy Dots Assortment.

What do you think? I hope you like the cards. Now, why not head over to the remaining blog posts to see some gorgeous inspiration.

  1. Beautiful cards, the first one makes me dream of a day at the beach, with the sound of the waves at the background, the second one is like a fairytale!
